Hello Everyone! Just wanted to wish Jon a
Happy Birthday! Also if you're in Finland, Boomtown is being shonw again on
channel 3 on Wednesdays at 11:20 p.m. :-) The TV guide I get made a small
mistake when they introduced the show saying that it was Mark instead of Donnie
playing one of the character. I wonder how many angry emails the got after that
since the next weeks issue had a correction about it. ;-) Love, Päivi

I am sure most of you have read the below from the
Herald earlier this week:
We Hear:
That Donnie Wahlberg was MIA from the Mass. Film
Bureau's Oscar benefit bash at the Wang Theatre
because he's this close to being cast in ``Numbers,'' a
Ridley Scott-produced TV cop-drama based in Boston.
(The Bureau, BTW, raised $75,000 for the Massachusetts
movie-making cause the other night.)
However, according to Donnie's wife, Kim, it's not
happening because the show has been "put on hold for
awhile." Thus, I guess we'll have to wait a little
longer to see what Donnie will be doing next!

Boomtown was cancelled on NBC, but on the Christmas weekend they
decided to air the last 4 episodes that were taped.
On Saturday from 8pm-10pm (EST), 3 episodes were aired.
Sunday on its old time slot(10PM) The last episode was aired.
These were episodes were very well done and added more depth to
certain characters. The last episode that aired on Sunday had me
wanting more. Unfortantely, NBC ruined that by cancelling Boomtown.

A friend in
Boston found this, and I thought I would share...
Meanwhile, NBC has officially pulled the plug on the critically praised
sophomore drama "Boomtown.
The cancellation of the Peabody Award-winning "Boomtown" was expected
after
NBC first benched the show two weeks into the season and then moved
"Third
Watch" from Monday to "Boomtown's" Friday 10 p.m. slot.
"Third Watch" had a strong premiere on Friday last week, handily
winning the
time slot in the 18-49 demographic, while "Boomtown" trailed CBS' "The
Handler" and ABC's "20/20" in its most recent outing.
Production on "Boomtown," which was on hiatus, will not resume. Six
episodes were filmed, with two making it to air."

(scroll down to the bottom to read about Boomtown) Fox Axes 'Skin' After 3 Airings Tue Nov 4, 9:39 PM ET Add Entertainment - Reuters TV to My Yahoo! By Nellie Andreeva LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fox has canceled prolific producer Jerry Bruckheimer's new series "Skin" after three low-rated airings. Reuters Photo Meanwhile, NBC has officially pulled the plug on the critically praised sophomore drama "Boomtown." "Skin," Fox's "Romeo and Juliet"-esque serial drama set in the world of Los Angeles' adult entertainment industry, shut down production Tuesday after completing eight episodes. Fox will run back-to-back original episodes of "The Next Joe Millionaire" at 8 and 9 p.m. Monday for the next two weeks, leading into the two-hour "Millionaire" finale Nov. 24. Meanwhile, "The O.C." will return to its original Thursday 9 p.m. time slot -- sort of. Fox has slated encore airings of its hot new teen soap on Thursday for the remaining three weeks of the sweep in addition to original episodes in the series' new slot at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Despite the massive promotion "Skin" received during Fox's highly rated postseason baseball telecasts as well as mostly positive reviews, the Ron Silver (news) starrer opened to a disappointing 6.3 million viewers and a 2.7 rating/6 share among adults 18-49. It most recently averaged 4.1 million viewers and a 1.8/4 in adults 18-49, beaten by the WB Network's "Everwood" in total viewers by 1.4 million viewers and tying "Everwood" and UPN's comedies in 18-49. The cancellation of the character-driven "Skin" marks the first series demise for Bruckheimer, who has been on a roll with such hits as CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (news - Y! TV)," "CSI: Miami," "Without a Trace" and, most recently, "Cold Case." The cancellation of the Peabody Award-winning "Boomtown" was expected after NBC first benched the show two weeks into the season and then moved "Third Watch" from Monday to "Boomtown's" Friday 10 p.m. slot. "Third Watch" had a strong premiere on Friday last week, handily winning the time slot in the 18-49 demographic, while "Boomtown" trailed CBS' "The Handler" and ABC's "20/20" in its most recent outing. I know that
a lot of you are confused about exactly
what is going on with Boomtown. Here is what I have
been told by Catherine Boxberger, Boomtown's
publicist. (Sorry if some of you already know
this....) The show has been pulled from NBC's
schedule, however it has NOT been cancelled. They are
technically on "hiatus". No decision has been made
about what to do with it. Although Zucker has said
that he will not return it to Friday nights at 10 PM
ET "if and when" he does return it to the schedule.
The main hope we have is that the Lyon's Den has been
pulled from the schedule for November sweeps...a lot
of critics speculate that if they decide to cancel the
Lyon's Den, NBC will put Boomtown in its place (back
on Sunday nights at 10 PM ET). However, this is just
speculation.
What can you do to help? Catherine has asked us to
set up a guestbook at the
http://www.saveboomtown.com
site so that she may send these comments to NBC's
Programming Manager. Thus, even if you have signed
the petition, please sign the guestbook. Here is the
address for it:

this is going to the Programming Manager, we ask that
you be as courteous as possible while still getting

they are not airing any episodes of the show. However, Zucker has said that if and when the show does return it will not been on Friday nights. TV Critics seem to think that if the Lyon's Den continues to do badly in the ratings (it has just been pulled off the schedule itself), then they will return Boomtown to its original time slot (Sunday nights at 10 PM ET), however NBC has not confirmed this. Right now, no decision has been made about what they want to do with Boomtown (they have already filmed 4 episodes that have not aired). However, if you would like to help to get the show back on the air, please goto http://www.saveboomtown.com and do some (or all) of the suggestions! :) If y'all could especially sign both the petition and the guestbook, that would be great! In fact, Boomtown's publicist, Catherine Boxberger, has said that she will forward the enteries from the guestbook on to NBC's programming manager! ---Jen |

No Room for
'Boomtown' on NBC Schedule
Sun Oct 19, 7:44 PM ET Add Entertainment - Reuters TV to My Yahoo!
By Scott Collins
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC's latest scheduling moves are
raising doubts about the future of the sophomore crime
drama "Boomtown."
The network said Friday that the cops-and-paramedics drama "Third
Watch" will switch to the 10 p.m. Friday slot starting Oct. 31.
In "Boomtown's" old 10 p.m. Monday period, NBC will debut "Average
Joe," a new reality romance hosted by Kathy Griffin (news), for at
least six episodes starting Nov. 3.
Preceding "Third Watch" on the Friday schedule will be "Dateline"
followed by the slow-starting Alicia Silverstone (news) dramedy "Miss
Match."
That leaves "Boomtown" without a perch. The most recent episode aired
Oct. 3, when it ranked third in the ratings behind CBS' "The Handler"
and ABC's "20/20." The "Boomtown" cast includes Donnie Wahlberg
(news), Mykelti Williamson (news) and new arrival Vanessa Williams
(news).
NBC entertainment president Jeff Zucker said no decision has been
made about when the ensemble drama will return to the schedule,
although work on a new episode is slated to begin this week. For the
past two weeks, NBC put repeats of "Law & Order: Special Victims
Unit" into the Friday slot.
"If and when 'Boomtown' returns, it won't be Fridays at 10," Zucker
said.
Zucker added that "Third Watch" had been a "solid performer" on
Mondays, and the new switch will allow the series to avoid stiff
competition on Mondays from CBS' "CSI: Miami."

disapproval about their decision

Help Boomtown
Several webmasters (including myself) have gotten
together and have come up with a three step plan you
can do to help Boomtown stay on the air. Of course
the first and foremost is RATINGS...please watch (and
encourage everyone you know to watch) the season
premiere on Friday, September 26th. Then please do as
many (if not all) of these suggestions that you can!
As many of you know, "Boomtown" has already incurred
some problems with NBC. Production of the show was
halted after the sixth episode was filmed. Reportedly,
the show will resume production after two weeks.
However, if the ratings aren't as good as the network
wants, there is a very real possibility that the show
will NOT return.
So, I'm asking all of you "Boomtown" fans for a few
minutes of your time. We've come up with a little
Three Step Plan in an attempt to help "Boomtown".
Step 1: After you watch the show Friday night, send an
email to
Boomtown@nbc.com and let them know that you
watched the show, enjoyed it and want to see a lot
more of "Boomtown". It doesn't matter which time zone
you live in - just send the email after you watch the
show. All of you international fans could send emails
after the show airs in the US, and tell NBC how eager
you are to see the second season in your country.
Also, here's a telephone number for Jeff Zucker
(818-840-2542). Everyone who can, please call this
number Friday night and leave a message letting them
know how much you enjoyed the show. If you feel the
urge, continue calling and emailing them all weekend!
Step 2: Mail a postcard on Thursday or Friday
(preferably Thursday). It would be great if they walk
into their office on Monday and find a big bag of
postcards from Boomtown fans. A plain postcard would
do, but if you could buy one (for 25 cents at
Wal-Mart) that represents the area of the country
where you live, it would let the network know that
fans from all over the United States and other
countries support the show. Send them to this address:
Viewer Relations
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112
Please continue sending a postcard EVERY Thursday.
Step 3: This would require a little more effort on
everyone's part. Mail a little toy police badge to the
above address. You can find them at Wal-Mart, grocery
stores, pharmacies and probably dollar stores. They
will fit easily into regular-sized envelopes and are
very cheap (less than a dollar). You can personalize
them with the characters' names and photos. Mail these
to NBC on Monday, Sept. 29th. If you have trouble
finding a badge, let me know and I'll send you one to
forward to NBC. Also, I'd love to hear any suggestions
you may have.
If NBC receives hundreds (dare I say thousands?) of
emails over the weekend and a large number of
postcards are waiting for them in their offices
Monday, the executives WILL notice. Thank you in
advance for your support. Let's rally behind this
great show! Long live "Boomtown"!!

'Boomtown,' 'Daily Show' Lead TV Critics Awards
![]() |
The NBC cop show, which tells each of its stories from multiple points of view, received two Television Critics Association Awards, for outstanding new show and outstanding drama, Saturday (July 19) at the association's 19th annual awards dinner. Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" also won two awards, for outstanding comedy and for host Jon Stewart's work.
Critics also nominated "The Daily Show" for the news award, but ultimately made for the more conventional choice of PBS' "Frontline."
"American Idol" won the award for program of the year, which recognizes a show's quality but also takes into account other factors such as the impact it has on pop culture at large.
Perennial Emmy snubbee "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" received the Heritage Award, which honors a long-running program that has helped change the medium or the culture. Carl Reiner won a lifetime achievement award.

Donnie Wahlberg
TV hit “Boomtown" just nabbed the prestigious Peabody Award,
and lead actor Donnie Wahlberg dropped by Hollywood and Highland to give “Extra”
the inside scoop on the series.
With a
Peabody Award, a new season, and a new Friday night time slot, the critically
acclaimed NBC cop drama "Boomtown" will be back this fall with a bang.
Donnie Wahlberg will return as Joel Stevens, a detective who’s found himself at
the center of an internal affairs investigation. And word has it the lovely
Vanessa Williams will be shaking things up on the show as a 10-episode guest
star, bringing with her a heavy dose of sex appeal.
Donnie says, “We're already fighting over who is going to be her love interest.
It’s going to be fun because she's going to be a sort of an antagonistic
character to us.”
Tune in for all the action this fall.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Triggermen is
going to be released later this year in the UK. Here
is what they had to say:
CANNES ? Winchester Films has acquired distribution
rights in the United Kingdom to John Bradshaw's
"Triggermen" from L.A.-based First Look Media.
Winchester is eyeing a November/December rollout for
the film, which stars Donnie Wahlberg, Michael
Rapaport and Pete Postlethwaite. Bradshaw directed
"Triggermen" from a script by Tony Johnston. The story
centers on two small-time con men confused for a pair
of hired hit men. John Gillespie, Deborah Kiss, Sabine
Muller and Mark Thomas produced the German production
